The scope of activity at the Laboratory of Computer Science (LCS) includes developing and maintaining applications for patient care, conducting clinical and informatics research, participating in medical education, and developing relationships with industry. Past projects of the LCS include such major accomplishments as the development and dissemination of the MUMPS (now known as M) programming language and the Computer Stored Ambulatory Record (COSTAR) automated medical record.
