In addition to the fellowship program open to physicians, there are other opportunities to participate in research and development at the Laboratory of Computer Science (LCS).

Medical Student Elective

Medical students interested in doing research at the LCS may apply through the Harvard Medical School (HMS) admissions office. The research elective requires a minimum time commitment of two consecutive months, and experience in computer programming is desirable.

The student will be involved in the development or implementation of a project involving the application of computers to patient care. The elective will make the student aware of the potentials and problems of computer applications in medicine and introduce him or her to the literature.
